Children
with Disabilities (CWD) program
On April 25 & May 9, our high school
students (ages 16 and older), were at Lower Cato Falls Park working on a
transition activity. This activity
will include planting trees, clearing brush, and dressing the disc golf
tees. Participants will be given
letters from Manitowoc County Parks Department for their community service.
There will be a fund raiser event benefitting the Manitowoc
County Comprehensive Charter School (of which we are a part). The event (entitled: Mildred. Comes to
Manitowoc) includes dinner, a comedy show, and silent auction. Mildred is a Comedy Troupe from Chicago. Tickets will be sold for $30.00. If anyone is interested, please contact
me.
The special education teachers have been preparing for the
2012-2013 school year by reviewing class lists, discussing cases with the
previous yearÕs teachers, and meeting with parents. They have focused on transition this
year, getting students ready to move from one level to the next as seamlessly
as possible.

for $9,564.43. Our total for year
is $95,556.09. Special education
teachers and support personnel have been extremely diligent in their monthly
reporting/documentations, and are to be commended.
RtI/PBIS
There have been
two strategic planning meetings to discuss implementation of RtI in the
district. Teaching staff from
across grade levels and school levels have attended, and are actively engaged
in the planning efforts.
Additionally, I have attended two area networking meetings on RtI, with
Dan Seaman from the WI RtI Center, and representatives from area school
districts. The final meeting on May
23 will develop the implementation plan for the following year.
