Information for Parents about 4th Grade
- Late Homework –Any assignments turned in late will be deducted 10%. The teachers will highlight or circle the late assignment in your child’s Assignment Notebook. Your child will be asked to work on the missing assignment during study hall that day (or the next day) and, if need be, during recess. Once the work is completed and turned in we will sign in the Assignment Notebook that it was done.
- Milk Break – Every morning the class will have a milk break. Your child can bring along a snack to eat during this time. If they do not want to drink milk, they are allowed to bring in a bottle of water to drink. This is the only time of the day when they are allowed to have the bottle in the classroom unless a written note is brought in explaining other circumstances.
- Folders – The 4th grade is not using a Take Home folder this year. If your child has a worksheet in a particular subject, that subject’s folder should be brought home with the worksheet in the “To Do” pocket. After it has been corrected, it should be placed in the “Done” pocket and remain there until the chapter is over. At the end of every chapter, there will be a folder clean out and all the papers will be sent home. Please do not empty out the folder ahead of time. These are papers they can use to help study or refer back to.
- Nightly – There are some things you can do nightly to help your child. Studying spelling words or vocabulary words, reviewing multiplication facts, and reading an AR book are all things that can be done for a few minutes each night, especially when homework is light. A few minutes will go a long way in helping them retain the information. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
